Since this is my second career and my first relying on display ads for my income, I do have to stand up for those sites with lots of ads- as annoying as they are, what you may not realize they’re there to pay the site owner and their staff (aka the content creators) for the work they do. I agree too many pop-ups are annoying as a user and it is irresponsible to make the user experience negative as a result. So a balance is absolutely a must IMO. But without display ads, otherwise the content would have to be behind a paywall.
